St Patrick’s Day can be a fun holiday to celebrate with the whole family but there’s also a pretty good chance you’ll end up with bright green teeth from dyed snacks and drinks when it’s all over! This year, opt for a healthy green treat that’s good for your belly and your mouth. These smoothies are so good, you might have to pinch yourself!

Super Green Super Food Smoothie
This super green smoothie is the perfect snack for St Patrick’s Day! The kale gives it a mouth-healthy kick with calcium and Vitamin B while Calcium strengthens teeth, and B vitamins help treat and prevent gingivitis (gum disease).

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 cups kale, packed
  • 2 tbsp chopped mint, packed
  • 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup of apple juice

Directions
Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. You can add more ice to the mixture to make it slushier if you prefer that consistency. You can also add more mint to your taste, or garnish with fresh mint leaves.

 

Cleansing Avocado Apple Smoothie
This cleansing green apple avocado smoothie is great as a snack or even a healthy breakfast on the go! Fresh spinach is loaded in Vitamin B and avocados have a variety of B vitamins and prebviotic fibre. The acidity of the apple will help kill bad breath causing bacteria plus ginger is great for your teeth and gums, helping to remove plaque.

 

Ingredients

  • 1cup plain unsweetened almond milk
  • 4cups loosely packed spinach
  • 1medium avocado
  • 2medium apples
  • 1medium banana
  • 2teaspoons honey
  • 1/2teaspoon ground ginger
  • Small handful of ice cubes

Directions
In the order listed, add the almond milk, spinach, avocado, apples, banana, honey, ginger, and ice to a high-powered blender. Blend until smooth. Taste and adjust sweetness and spices as desired. Enjoy immediately.
