Teeth Whitening

Teeth naturally change colour over the course of your lifetime. The accumulation of surface stains can prematurely darken or discolour your teeth. Teeth whitening can help you brighten your smile to its former glory

What Causes Tooth Discolouration?

Teeth naturally darken with age due to changes in the enamel and dentin beneath the surface. Genetics also play a role, meaning some people naturally have teeth that are less white. Lifestyle habits, such as drinking coffee, tea, or red wine, smoking, and eating pigmented foods like berries and curries, can also contribute to staining and discolouration over time.
For those exploring teeth whitening in Tecumseh, professional options provided by a teeth whitening dentist can help address these common causes of staining.

Take-Home Teeth Whitening Options

Night-Time Teeth Whitening

This treatment is a take-home treatment that whitens the teeth over a period of four weeks. Custom trays are made from impressions of the teeth and are to be worn nightly with the provided bleach solution. Check-up appointments will occur once a week to ensure the treatment is effective and to answer any questions or concerns that may arise.

Daytime Teeth Whitening

Similar to the Night-time, this treatment is a take-home treatment that is achieved over the course of four weeks. Impressions are taken, and custom whitening trays are created. The daytime bleach solution is to be worn daily for two 45-minute periods at least an hour apart. Check-up appointments will be scheduled once a week for the duration of the treatment.

Zoom! Whitening

This as-seen-on-TV procedure is completed in one appointment that is approximately two hours long. The procedure consists of three 15-minute whitening sessions back-to-back. The service also includes custom whitening trays which will be fashioned from impressions of the teeth and be provided with a touch-up kit for in-home maintenance.

Why Choose Professional Whitening?

Professional whitening treatments are typically faster and more controlled than over-the-counter options, with results supervised by your dentist. Store-bought products can be abrasive and, if used incorrectly, may cause sensitivity or damage to your teeth. In contrast, treatments at Shaban Dental Centre are designed to protect your oral health while delivering consistent, noticeable results.

Individuals searching for teeth whitening near me, dental teeth whitening near me, or solutions related to teeth filling whitening can benefit from an assessment to determine the most suitable approach based on the condition of the teeth and existing dental work.

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic dental procedure that brightens the color of your teeth, removing stains caused by coffee, tea, tobacco, aging, or certain foods. It restores a vibrant, confident smile.
Ideal candidates:
  • Have healthy teeth and gums
  • Want to remove surface or deep stains
  • Desire a brighter smile for cosmetic purposes
Patients with dental restorations (crowns, veneers, or bridges) should consult their dentist, as whitening may not affect these materials.

Professional whitening treatments use a peroxide-based gel that breaks down stains and discolouration on the enamel. In-office whitening uses a stronger concentration and is activated under controlled conditions for fast, noticeable results.

Yes. When performed under professional supervision, teeth whitening is safe and effective. Your dentist will take care to protect your gums and soft tissues during the procedure, minimizing the risk of irritation or sensitivity.

Some patients experience mild sensitivity after whitening, but it usually subsides within a few days. Using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth and avoiding extremely hot or cold foods right after treatment can help.

Most patients only need professional whitening once a year, with occasional touch-ups at home. Whitening too frequently can cause enamel wear, so always consult your dentist before repeating treatment.

  • Brush and floss regularly
  • Avoid stain-causing foods and drinks (coffee, tea, red wine)
  • Schedule regular dental cleanings
  • Use whitening touch-ups as recommended
