How To Avoid Bad Breath

Most people won’t tell you when your breath smells bad. They might offer you a mint or suggest a piece of gum but often times bad breath goes unnoticed by the person struggling with it. Instead of worrying about detecting your own bad breath before someone else does, use these tips to avoid it altogether.

Drink Lots of Water
Drinking water regularly can help you avoid bad breath because bacteria thrives in a dry mouth. Make it a point to drink water throughout the day and not only will you stay hydrated, your breath will stay fresh.

Floss & Brush Regularly
If you struggle with bad breath, brushing your teeth twice a day is essential. If twice a day doesn’t seem to do the trick, try brushing after every meal as well. It’s also important to remember to floss at least once a day .

Avoid Foods That Cause Bad Breath
Stay away from onions and garlic and limit your intake of proteins like meat and fish as those can prove to be problematic as well. Since it isn’t realistic to fully avoid specific foods forever, focus instead on brushing your teeth after eating any bad breath culprits.

Use Mouthwash
Brushing your teeth after every meal can be more difficult than it seems, especially when you’re on the go. Rinsing with mouthwash can be an easier way to keep your mouth fresh no matter where you are. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash for 30 seconds or more before spitting. Don’t forget that smoking or eating within 30 minutes after rinsing can undo the benefits as well.
