Bonding

WHAT IS IT?

Similar to fillings, bonding is done to fill in chipped or cracked teeth and can also be used for cosmetic purposes. It can improve a tooth’s colour or to close spaces between teeth. Bonding can also cover the exposed root of a tooth if the gums recede.

Bonding is one of the quickest and least expensive dental procedures. It also requires little to no removal of enamel and, for the most part, can be done without anesthetics.

TWO TYPES OF BONDING

  • Direct Composite Bonding – Using tooth-coloured composites to fill cavities, fill gaps, and cover chips or cracks.
  • Adhesive Bonding – The process of adding a restoration to a tooth. This method is most commonly used with bridges, inlays/onlays, and esthetic crowns.
